READ TO ROVER at VALLEY OF THE TETONS LIBRARY

(please note READ to ROVER is on hiatus until Fall 2018)

Would you like to read to a canine companion?
Valley of the Tetons Library needs your help!
Volunteers are needed to read to good dogs!

Did you know that reading to dogs can boost reading skills and confidence as well as help with emotional and social skills? Programs in both school and public libraries are gaining in popularity because of their many benefits. Ask your friendly librarian about reading to a therapy dog at Valley of the Tetons Library. A dog handler and their trained therapy dog will be available on TUESDAYS at 3PM at the DRIGGS LIBRARY and WEDNESDAYS at 3PM at the VICTOR LIBRARY.

The Teton County (WY) Pet Partners have high standards for their teams to ensure both safe and effective visits in the community. The Pet Partner program focuses on improving human health through positive interactions with therapy, service and companion animals.  Dogs don’t judge, can increase confidence, and bring comfort. Communication skills can be improved by practicing reading aloud.
You can also make an appointment to read to a dog in Driggs. Contact us at 354-5522 to check availability. Thank you to Kelly Chadwick of the Pet Partners Program!
